Femmoto Lead Instructor
Name: Angie "Pony" Loy
Residence:
Ventura, CA
Profession(s): Owner, Ponyrific.com, Instructor, Jason Pridmore's STAR School & Contributing Editor for Motorcyclist magazine

Current Bikes: 2005 Suzuki GSX-R750, 2006 GSX-R750
Hobbies: Roadracing, supermoto, Scrabbble, yoga, playing with my dogs
Best Advice: Freddie Spencer says it well, "Fast riders have slow hands." I've found that focusing on technique and taking your time is the most effective way to advance as a rider. Speed comes with time and patience and being smoooooth. Being an instructor at the STAR School, I've seen so many riders riding way above their skill levels, thinking it's a race and then I find myself pulling off the track to help them pick up their bikes! Remember: There's always someone faster than you. Be humble. Maybe there's still something for you to learn

Best Advice: In general - Have fun and be safe! As far as Femmoto goes - it's about trying these awesome motorcycles in the safest environment - don't worry about being the slowest or the fastest, ride your own ride and remember no one is getting a trophy or points! I learned the tortoise and hare lesson the hard way in desert racing - I finish much better if I slow down a little and ride well than if I ride WFO and crash - as one mentor told me "You have to go slow in order to go fast". It's all about being smooth, having good lines - and most of all having fun! Isn't that what motorcycling is about??

Hobbies: Working out (weights, running, yoga, swimming); riding my horses, riding my bikes, terrorizing co-workers on the commute to work with my R1! ;-) (j/k) and, of course, the biggest one - racing!
Best Advice: Ride your OWN ride. My husband, Brad Armstrong, gave me the best advice - Put a smile on, and go out and ride because you love it! My personal advice- fitness is the key to confidence - confidence in your self image, and confidence in your ability to maneuver your bike at any speed.

Birthplace: Monterey Park, CA
Education: BA Behavioral Science - Cal Poly Pomona, currently pursuing MPA, Master's in Public Administration

Hobbies: Riding track, reading, baking, cooking, exercising, traveling, sleeping

Best Advice: In my opinion and experience, speed doesn't make you a good rider, consistency, predictability and knowing your bike and yourself are all elements of a good rider. Don't ever feel pressured to ride beyond your comfort-zone, or to try to keep up with faster, more experienced riders; every rider was once a new rider.
Recent Highlights: Jason Pridmore's STAR School; this was one of the most amazing riding experiences I have ever had. Jason and his instructors are the best! I gained a great deal of confidence in my riding through these two days of focused instruction and drills and am looking forward to attending another 2-day event with them!
