In the late 90's statistics showed that more and more women were riding motorcycles, but that those motorcycles consisted predominantly of cruisers. Times are changing, and women are turning to sportbikes to indulge their need for speed.
When track-day organizers Sportbike Track Time and Aprilia combined forces to cater to these women, they were unsure of the outcome. Sportbike Track Time and Aprilia wanted to attract more women to sportbikes and track riding by offering them a safe, friendly environment. The first event was held at Virginia International Raceway with fifty-three women turning out for the inaugural event. These women came from every corner of the continent and ranging in experience from novices to racer. Each hour was broken into three groups: Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced. Women decided themselves which group suited them best along with deciding which Aprilia motorcycle they wanted to choose from: Mille Superbike, the street-sport Falco, the sport-touring RST Futura, or the adventure-touring CapoNord.
